Pool Party

It was very hot again today, so Ethan decided he wanted to get his pool out. He splashed around for a few minutes, then Max (our dog) decided that he wanted to cool off too. Ethan was a little mad at first, but then actually started throwing Max's ball into the pool to get him to jump in after it. After chasing the ball around the yard for a while, Max finally decided to just lay down in the pool. Max also seemed to especially enjoy frequently drying himself off, which consequently soaked everyone else.

Lots of summer fun...

Well, Ethan got to spend a lot of time with his papa again this week. Yesterday, Ethan was so worn out by lunch that he actually fell asleep in his vegetables (check out the picture). I woke him up, sort of, for him to eat a yogurt. He kept his eyes shut most of the time, but ended up eating it all (I got out the video camera for this - you'll have to watch it if you ever get the chance - it's hilarious). Ethan also got to play a little in his pool Wednesday, and walk his puppy in the evening (he loves to throw treats at Max, who can usually catch them). It's been a very tiring week, especially since it has been so hot and dry (for those of you who don't live in central Illinois, it has been in the upper 90s this week, and we have only had 0.04 inches of rain this month).

Captain Ethan

Yesterday (Saturday), we were invited to spend the day on the lake at our friend Jerry's house. Ethan got all decked out for the occasion and was psyched about trying his hand at water-skiing. Actually, he fell asleep before he got the opportunity to try that, but was wide awake to see his papa fall off the waverunner into the murky depths of Lake Decatur (his papa survived the fall, but ended up with a couple of good bruises that made sitting through church today a little uncomfortable). Ethan tried his first sno-cone and first slice of watermelon in the afternoon (neither of which he liked, but he'll come around).

Spending the day in Arthur

Ethan got to visit his great-grandma Korte this past Friday in Arthur. After eating at Yoder's, we went to a couple small shops downtown and Ethan got to see a couple of horses up close. He also got to play on the piano while we were there, smell the roses outside, and ring the big dinner bell in the back of the house (he pretty much had to hang on the rope to get it to ring). I will include a "four-generation" picture of Ethan, Kyle, Ethan's grandma O., and Ethan's great-grandma K. (photography by Mandy).

Hello all!
I took Ethan to the zoo Tuesday morning (it's free on Tuesdays), and he wanted to ride the zoo "choo-choo" everytime that he heard its whistle. We finally boarded the train, only to have a couple of people sit in front of us. He was not happy about that (as you can see in one of the pictures).
